Calf augmentation surgery with implants is a popular cosmetic procedure that helps strengthen the size and definition of the lower leg. It will also correct legs that show a visible calf deformation or an imbalance caused by injury or a medical condition. Dallas, TX cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Daniel Beck, offers this surgery, which uses flexible, solid silicone implants that are designed in a variety of shapes and sizes to fit the natural contours of the lower leg. After surgery, patients enjoy greater confidence because their legs have a more defined and muscular shape. This surgery is common among body-builders who desire greater-sized calves.

"39 Years Old Calf Implants - I believe in my heart Dr Bexk and his team are the best I have every dealt with in my life. I have zero regrets, pain is at a minimum and I feel wonderful after one day after the implants surgery. My legs are tight but that's all. He will be my gonto for any future procedure I have. Words can't say enough about the professionalism and bedside manor they have in his facility. - - I am 39, 5'8" and 220 lbs lean. I have trained my entire life in the gym and my calf genetics were just not comparable to the rest of my body. I have wanted to have this sergury for 15 years but never felt comfortable with a Dr. Until i meant Dr. Beck. I live in LA and researched every doctor in the south and by far he hd the best crodintials and offered many procedures most didn't. I made a consultation and the moment I met him and his staff I realized I made the correct choice. They had me in a week later and I had the sergury yesterday. The staff was so comforting before and after the procedure. I originally had 15" calves and now 17.5" with hardly any swelling. The pain in minimal, but there is a very tight feeling in your calves. I find it best to use crutches or a walker with bent knees when moving. I got 2 implants in each leg, which apparently is not the norm, and want to say I could not be more satisfied and please with Dr. Beck and his team. After 15 years his bedside manor and great feeling of trust gave me zero hesitations in getting the procedure. I cannot give thanks enough and would recommend him to anyone needing any plastic surgery done. I will post pics when I can. Thank you again Dr. Beck and your team for you caring and perfect work."- O. / RealSelf / Feb 23, 2017
A common method used during this procedure places a silicone implant through a small incision made behind the knee. The implant is positioned into a pocket surgically created within the calf muscle. Depending on the desired result, a second implant may be placed alongside the first to give the calf greater shape. Surgical sutures close the skin. Following surgery, the implant will become enclosed by scar tissue. This is a natural implant process and helps the device stay in tact so it can remain in place for years.
Calf augmentation is an outpatient procedure performed under general anesthesia at an accredited surgical facility. The entire surgery typically takes about an hour per leg to complete. Patients will be released from the hospital and instructed to use crutches for a given period of time. Most individuals can resume normal activities within 6-12 days. Regular exercise can resume following surgeon release, which is often between 4-8 weeks. Most patients are pleased with their results and feel they have a stronger, more balanced lower body.
The cost of calf augmentation surgery will vary slightly depending on the implant used and the number of implants it takes to attain the desired results. Most patients can expect to pay $3,500- $5,500 for a calf implant procedure.

Benefits of Calf Augmentation?@headingTag>
Calf implant surgery is not only performed for aesthetics, but to help treat lower leg conditions and imbalances. Some of the issues calf implants can solve include:
- Inability to achieve muscle definition
- Lower leg muscle imbalances
- “Skinny/chicken” legs
- Spina Bifida
- Lower leg injuries
- Lack of calf tissue development
Scarring is very minimal with calf implant surgery because the incision is placed behind the knee. Even if the incision is placed on the front of the leg under the knee, scarring will be difficult to see.
How Long Will They Last?@headingTag>
With any cosmetic surgery involving the placement of an implant, the results can last for years. However, as an individual ages and the body naturally changes, the implants may no longer look or work the way they once did. At the appropriate time, a patient can choose to have the implant replaced or removed. Most implants are manufactured to last between 10-15 years.
