Women who have excessively large breasts may consider a breast reduction procedure to reduce their size and shape. This is a surgery offered by Southlake, TX plastic surgeon, Dr. Daniel Beck, and is performed for women who find their large breasts interfering with everyday activities. Women with large and heavy breasts are more self-conscious and find difficulty in doing physical activities such as exercising. There are also symptoms associated with bigger breasts such as back pain, skin dermatitis and other skin irritations from tight bra straps. Breast reduction removes excess tissue, lifts and reshapes the breasts to be proportional to the rest of the body.
Breast Reduction Reviews
"Active 60 Year Old Wanting to Keep Up with Grandchildren and Enjoy Adventures - Dallas, TX - Again, very personable. He did not talk over you, but let you know what he was doing or going to do step by step. Very impressed with his "bed-side manners". He made me feel comfortable with the sensitivity of the nature of the surgery by being very discreet. He answered every question and concern that I had. The surgery went well, and of course, I was unaware that I had been out for over 5 hours. Liposuction was done under my arms since 3 lbs. were taken off of each breast. I am still swollen and numb in those areas, but there was much work done there. My overall experience with the doctor and the surgery was excellent, and I will forever recommend Dr. Daniel Beck to everyone I know needing this type of work done! - - I had been wanting to have a breast reduction for 30 years, but was told that if you were even 5 lbs. overweight, insurance would not help. So, given the information, I put it off for years. I was now getting close to retirement, started talking to my general physician about it, and she recommended Dr. Daniel Beck. This man is remarkable! He was professional, polite, handled the sensitive case with utmost dignity , and put my mind at ease. He answered every question that I had at the time, and I came away from my 1st visit excited. My motivation for the surgery was my grandkids! I want to enjoy family and do things as I am able. This will help me! It has been 6 months and I will be going in next week for that appt. Dr. Beck has incredible manners and his knowledge of every detail of the surgery makes me feel really comfortable, He is very affirming, and yet is straight on with you about do's and don'ts. I am quite impressed with this doctor to the extent that I would recommend Dr. Daniel Beck to everyone wanting or needing cosmetic surgery! He treated me in a way that made me feel valued and special. Therefore, I know he is that way with all of his patients - he's as good as they come. Thank you Mesquite Employee Health Clinic for the recommendation, You steered me RIGHT!"- P. / RealSelf / Jun 03, 2016
"Great experience from day one - I have thought about and researched having a breast reduction for several years. I've had consults in NY and just never went through with the surgery. But after moving to Texas I decided to go ahead with the consultation process again. I had 3 consults all together and Dr. Beck was my second one. I left my consult with him feeling SO relieved, relaxed, comfortable, and informed about the whole..."- J. / RealSelf / May 02, 2017
It is important to find a highly skilled surgeon who has experience with this procedure. It is important to maintain a good blood supply to the nipple areola complex as there is risk of discoloration and loss of sensation when blood flow is restricted. Liposuction is also implemented to remove the excess fat while the loose skin will be excised and tightened to form the newly shaped breasts. This procedure is also implemented as a way to correct an issue of breast asymmetry.
The most common incision for breast reduction is what they call “the anchor” or a vertical T. With this kind of approach, the incision is made around the areola, extends vertically down to the breast crease, and then is followed by another horizontal incision along the direction of the fold. The areola will be repositioned once the breasts have been resized and recurved. A lift will also be done so that the breasts will be placed higher on the chest.
Breast reduction is always done in an accredited surgical center under general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. The surgery usually takes about 2 to 4 hours. For the first several weeks, the surgeon will recommend the use of a compression bra to protect the breasts. Patients may go back to work within 7-10 days and may resume physical activities (such as exercise) between 6-8 weeks post-operative. Results following a breast reduction are usually visible immediately after the surgery. Nipple sensitivity will gradually return within the first year.
The average cost for breast reduction procedure is between $6,500 to $8,500. Insurance does not normally cover cosmetic procedures. However, patients with larger breasts have tendencies to experience physical problems, which can provide medical health conditions of which insurance may cover. Our billing and insurance coordinator will work with the insurance company to confirm what is covered and provide a final estimate.

Will Results Last?@headingTag>
Breast reduction is a long-term solution for patients who are affected with excessively large breasts. In cases where there is significant weight gain, the results may be compromised just like any cosmetic procedure that modifies body shape. Natural aging and gravity will take their toll over time and will still affect the breasts with or without the reduction. It is important to maintain a good health routine so that the enhancement lasts for a long time.
For women with larger breasts, the areola is also excessively large. In a breast reduction surgery, an areola reduction is also considered. As an incision is made surrounding the areola, the excess skin will also be trimmed so that it is proportional to the breasts’ new shape.
How Much Reduction?@headingTag>
This varies depending on the doctor’s initial evaluation and the patient’s preference. Often, the reduction results in a cup or two smaller from the original breast size.
